Inspired by Fall and her Seasonal Flavors

Finally, fall is here, and with it, a few of our favorite things. It’s time for Halloween treats, pumpkin spice lattes, and seasonal FRUITS and VEGGIES.
We’re going to walk you through the produce you should be buying in the coming fall months and when, in particular, you should be buying it. Here’s to a tasty and nutrient-packed fall!
We’ll list what you should be buying for the very best in freshness and flavor, so prepare yourselves for some delicious times ahead.
🥬 Cabbage
It’s time to broaden your horizons if the only time you eat cabbage is at a barbecue. This crunchy vegetable is far more versatile than you think.
Venture into the world of all things cabbage with this hearty and flavorful dish. The best part? Other than seasoning, you’ll need only 5 ingredients. Spoiler alert: one of those ingredients is bacon, and bacon makes everything better.
If you’re vegetarian, omit the bacon and add olive oil instead!
Sauteed Cabbage — Late fall dish
INGREDIENTS
✔️ 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped into 1-inch pieces
✔️ 4 slices thick bacon, cut into rustic style cubes
✔️ 1 small, diced
✔️ 2–3 teaspoons of brown sugar to taste.
✔️ Salt
✔️ Freshly ground black pepper
✔️ Freshly chopped parsley
🧾 DIRECTIONS
- In a large pan, fry the bacon for 5 to 7 minutes, or until crispy.
- Remove bacon, leaving the oil and fat in the pan
- Add the onion to the pan and cook until soft.
- Add the cabbage and sugar.
- Cook on low heat until the cabbage tender.
- Season with salt and pepper
- Add the cooked bacon, and cook until bacon warmed through.
- Top with fresh parsley and serve hot.
🥔 Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are a great source of vitamins and minerals. As well as being highly nutritious, they also keep your gut healthy with antioxidants and fiber. Sweet potatoes with orange flesh go one better. They’re full of beta-carotene which supports both your immune system and your vision.
SWEET POTATO CHOWDER
INGREDIENTS
✔️ 2–3 tablespoons olive oil
✔️ 1 onion diced (red or white onion)
✔️ 2 pounds sweet potatoes peeled and diced
✔️ 2–3 medium celery stalks, diced
✔️ 2 cloves garlic, minced
✔️ fresh parsley·
✔️ 1 teaspoon ground coriander
✔️ 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
✔️ 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
✔️ 1 teaspoon salt
✔️ 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
✔️ 4 cups vegetable stock
🧾 DIRECTIONS
- Heat the oil in a large pot.
- Add the onion and celery and cook until soft.
- Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the sweet potatoes and cook, stirring regularly.
- Add the coriander, sage, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Continue stirring.
- Add the vegetable stock and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and cook until the sweet potatoes are soft.
- Use a stick blender of food processor to blend half of the liquid and vegetables until soft.
- Add the blended liquid to the pot, stir well and serve.
🎃 Pumpkins
Fall is synonymous with pumpkins, and pumpkin spice is part of the magic, making Pumpkin Spice Lattes the drink of choice during the fall season.
Nutrient-dense, pumpkin is rich in vitamins and minerals and beta-carotene. The benefits of this wonderful vegetable include blood pressure regulation, prevention and control of diabetes, and protection against asthma.

Pumpkin Fritters
INGREDIENTS
Fritters
✔️ 1 cup pumpkin cooked and pureed until smooth
✔️ 1 ¼ cups flour
✔️ 2 teaspoon baking powder
✔️ 2 ½ tablespoons caster sugar
✔️ 1 egg
✔️ ⅓ cup of milk
✔️ ½ teaspoon salt
✔️ Oil to fry
Caramel Sauce
✔️ 1 cup sugar
✔️ 1 cup cream
✔️ 4 tablespoons butter
✔️ 2 teaspoons vanilla essence or extract
✔️ ½ cup golden syrup
✔️ ½ teaspoon salt.
🧾 DIRECTIONS
Fritters
- Mix together all the ingredients. You should have a smooth batter when you’ve finished.
- Heat the oil.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the oil and fry until golden and cooked through.
- Drain on kitchen paper.
- Cook in batches until the batter is finished.
Sauce
- Mix together all the ingredients in a pot.
- Cook over low-medium heat until the sauce thickens. It should take between 12–15 minutes.
- Decant into a serving jug, pour over fritters, and serve.
🍎 Apples
Apples are a great source of antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C. They’ve been linked to a lower risk of heart disease and diabetes and they promote good gut health.
Apples are also the foundation of a plethora of delicious baked goods and desserts. Give our apple muffins a try. They’re the perfect accompaniment to your Pumpkin Spice Latte. Soft, moist, and perfectly sweet, these muffins are taken to another level thanks to the crumble topping.
Apple Crumble Muffins
INGREDIENTS
Muffin Mix
✔️ 2 cup flour
✔️ 1 teaspoon baking powder
✔️ ½ teaspoon baking soda
✔️ ½ teaspoon salt
✔️ 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
✔️ ½ butter
✔️ ⅔ cup white sugar
✔️ ¼ cup brown sugar
✔️ 1 large egg
✔️ 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla essence or extract
✔️ 1 cup milk
✔️ 1 apple, cored, peeled and diced.
Crumble Topping
✔️ ½ cup butter
✔️ 3 tablespoons white sugar
✔️ ¼ cup brown sugar
✔️ 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
✔️ 1 cup flour
✔️ ½ teaspoon salt
🧾 DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line two muffin trays with muffin papers.
- Mix together the butter and sugar until creamy.
- Add the egg and mix.
- Add the dry ingredients, milk, and spices and mix again.
- Stir in the apple.
- Combine the crumble ingredients in a bowl.
- Sprinkle the crumble mix over the muffins
- Bake for approximately 20 minutes.
